Two men from Kansas are in a Idaho jail after police allegedly discovered nearly 12 pounds of marijuana inside of their vehicle.

According to police, an Elmore County deputy stopped the vehicle on eastbound I-84 and made contact with two men, who were later identified as Richard Grant and Patrick Grant of Shawnee, Kansas.

Sgt. Steve Burnett detected the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle and a K-9 unit alerted deputies of the likely presence of drugs in the car.

A search of the vehicle revealed 11.58 pounds of packaged marijuana.

KIVI-TV says both the father and son were arrested and charged with felony drug trafficking. Patrick was additionally charged with misdemeanor possession of MDMA and hash oil.

$4,879 in cash was seized and investigators say that the duo was coming from Oregon and returning to Kansas.

This investigation is ongoing.
