Lenexa woman drowns after canoe capsizes

A woman from Lenexa, Kansas, drowned on Tuesday after her canoe capsized in the Black River. 

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol's Water Patrol Division, 59-year-old Dianne M. Humfeld was floating on the west fork of the Black River near Lesterville when her canoe capsized. 

A passing floater checked on the canoe and found Humfeld's body trapped underneath it. 

Humfeld was declared deceased at the scene. 

Officials say she was not wearing a life jacket.
