The trial for a 28-year-old northwest Missouri man charged in the shooting death of his wife is set to begin March 21, 2016.

The St. Joseph News-Press reports that Circuit Judge Larry Harman set the trial date for Adam Baker, of Cameron.

He's charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the Feb. 25 death of 26-year-old Holly Baker.

The probable cause statement says Adam Baker told officers he and his wife were fighting before she picked up a gun.

Baker claimed he took the gun away from his wife and later shot her. The murder charge carries a possible sentence of between 10 and 30 years or life in prison.

The defense has succeeded in obtaining a change of venue that moved the case to Liberty.
