Arrest made in east Kansas City homicide

The suspect in a homicide at an apartment complex turned himself in hours after the shooting, according to officers. 

Officers identified the suspect as 24-year-old William Verner of Kansas City, Missouri. 

Police were called to the Gotham Apartments on 2700 block of East Linwood Boulevard around 3 p.m. Sunday.

When police arrived they found the Verner and transported to a local hospital where he later died. 

Witnesses told police the Verner and the suspect were involved in a disturbance before the shooting. 

A few hours later, the suspect turned himself in to police at the Metro Patrol Station.

This is Kansas City's eighth homicide of 2016.
