KANSAS CITY, Mo. — There was a great deal of uncertainty swirling around the Chiefs’ latest game, a 26-10 victory Monday against the New England Patriots at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.

Positive COVID-19 tests for quarterbacks on both teams — New England starter Cam Newton and Kansas City practice squad member Jordan Ta’amu — prompted a one-day delay from Sunday to Monday.

The postponed game wasn't exactly a masterpiece as “4th & 1” podcast co-hosts Nick Jacobs and Tod Palmer explain.

But the NFL is a bottom line league, and the bottom line is that the Chiefs have now beaten the other three 2019 AFC division winners — Houston (AFC South), Baltimore (AFC North) and New England (AFC East) — while also claiming a road AFC West win during the first four games of the season.

Kansas City also became the first team in NFL history to go at least 4-0 to start the season in four consecutive seasons.

The Chiefs (4-0) are one of six undefeated teams remaining, including the AFC East-leading Buffalo Bills.

The other two, Pittsburgh and Tennessee, were scheduled to play Sunday, but that game was postponed after 20 Titans players and staff tested positive for COVID-19 since Sept. 24.

The “4th & 1” podcast is the twice-weekly, Chiefs-centric podcast from 41 Action News, the official broadcast “Home of the Chiefs.” Co-hosts Nick Jacobs and Tod Palmer analyze and breakdown the Chiefs’ opponent and performance for pre- and post-game episodes — available on iTunes or your preferred podcast platform — each week during the season.
