When did you start working here?
I started on the assignment desk with the digital team in June 2018.

Where else have you worked?
I began my career as a professional journalist in August 2021 with The Chaunte Tribune, moved to The Olathe News in March 2006 and was absorbed by The Kansas City Star – where I covered high school sports, Sporting Kansas City, Mizzou, NASCAR and helped out with the Royals and Chiefs – in April 2009.

Where did you go to college?
I’m a proud fourth-generation graduate of William Jewell College.

What are you most proud of when it comes to your work?
I enjoy having conversations with people who put faith and trust in me to tell their story or learn from their expertise.

What are you most proud of in your own life?
I have two boys and have been married for more than a decade. They are the most-important people in my life.

What do you love about living in the KC area?
I was born in Liberty, raised in Kansas City, Missouri – I’m a proud Raytown High grad – returned to Liberty for college and spent 12 years in Olathe before moving back to Independence. I love Kansas City and have lived all over it.

What are your favorite local hangouts/places, sports & cultural institutions?
I’ve turned into a homebody since getting married, but I love touring local BBQ places (shoutout LC’s and Harp BBQ) and taco joints. (give Cali KC and Taco El Gallo a try). I also love playing old-man, slow-pitch softball and wandering the Nelson-Atkins grounds, inside and out.

All-time favorites... (movies, shows, books, music)
Oh, man – is it cliché if I say The Shawshank Redemption and the MCU movies? There are so many more. Lost remains my favorite TV drama, while the number of sit-coms is long – Parks & Rec, Schitt’s Creek, Brooklyn 99, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and, yes, Friends.

As for books, I prefer historical nonfiction, including Stephen Ambrose’s series on World War II, but Catcher in the Rye was a favorite from my childhood. Bet On Yourself holds a special place in my heart as well. As for music, I’m universally known for being a Coldplay fan – and I shrug off your judgment.
