KANSAS CITY, Mo. — It wasn’t supposed to be so easy.
The Chiefs’ third game of the season Monday night at Baltimore was supposed to be an AFC Championship Game preview, a showdown between the top two teams in the conference, an epic quarterback duel.
As the “4th & 1” podcast crew explains, Kansas City and Patrick Mahomes turned in an impressive (and lopsided) 34-20 victory, frustrating reigning MVP Lamar Jackson and the Ravens’ passing game while scoring almost at will against the Ravens’ proud defense.
Mahomes finished 31 of 42 for 385 with four touchdowns. He also added 26 yards rushing, including another touchdown in a game the Chiefs led 27-10 at halftime.
By contrast, Jackson went only 15 for 28 for 97 yards with one touchdown, adding 83 yards on nine carries rushing.
You have to wonder how the NFL Media’s Top 100 Players of 2020 list — Jackson was first and Mahomes was fourth — would change after Monday.
