What would you do if you found out you had tickets to the Royals 2016 home open and couldn't attend?

Reselling is always an option, and with anticipation running high off last year's win, you could probably make a good return on your investment.

But 17-year-old Lorenzo Harrison had another idea: he would give the tickets away for free via Facebook.

Harrison posted Thursday night in a Royals fan group with a request for fans to share why they wanted to go to the game; the winner would be selected from those who commented.

In a post that has generated over 2,000 comments and counting, Royals fans shared their reasons for wanting to attend. Many hoped to provide a special night for a loved one; some had never been to a home opener and wanted to go for one of the biggest such games in Royals history.

Tammy Copp-Barta, a commenter on Facebookwith a particularly heartwarming story, posted that the first Royals World Series victory happened during her honeymoon in 1985, and she and her husband hoped to celebrate the start of a new season coming off another World Series win.

The tickets ultimately went to Emily Davis and her 13-year-old son, who has been battling cancer for seven years.

"When I was six, I didn't even know what cancer was, and now he has to go through that," said Harrison. "That has to be a lot on [Davis] and her family. I saw the financial need with this family, and I said, 'Let me be a blessing to them.'"

Davis' son is reportedly close to remission. Harrison bestowed the tickets with another post that said: "I am a firm believer in Christ and God is going to heal her son. Congrats Emily!!!"
