The Kansas City Royals announced Sunday that they have placed right-handed pitcher Wade Davis on the 15-day disabled list with a flexor strain.

The D.L. stint is retroactive to July 28, making him eligible for reinstatement on August 12.

To take Davis’ place on the roster, the club has recalled left-handed pitcher Matt Strahm from Northwest Arkansas (AA). Strahm will be in uniform (#64) for Sunday's game against the Texas Rangers.

Strahm, 24, has made 22 appearances and 18 starts for the Naturals this season, posting a 3-8 record with a 3.43 ERA and 107 strikeouts in 102.1 innings pitched. He was the Royals’ 21st-round draft pick in 2012 and was named a South Atlantic League All-Star (A) in 2015.

The left-hander posted a 2.59 ERA and 121 strikeouts in 29 outings (11 starts) between Wilmington (A-Advanced) and Lexington (A) last season.
