The Kansas City Royals announced on Friday that they have signed catcher Drew Butera to a two-year contract.

Butera, 33, played in 56 games with the Royals in 2016, setting career highs in doubles (10), home runs (four), batting average (.285), on-base percentage (.328) and slugging percentage (.480) in his first full season in Kansas City, according to the team.
The Royals now have 38 players on their Major League reserve list.
