To celebrate the 2015 World Series Championship, the Kansas City Royals announced they will start the 2016 season donning Golden Threads during the Opening Series against the New York Mets, April 3 and 5.

The team said in a news release that the Royals will wear specially designed Majestic jerseys and caps from New Era. The front of the home white jerseys will have the script ‘Royals’ embossed in gold with blue thread and blue numbers. The back of the jerseys will have each player’s name in blue and the numbers embossed in gold with blue thread. The jerseys will also feature a World Champions patch on the sleeve.

The special royal blue caps will feature a gold ‘KC’ with white trim on the front. The side of the cap will have the 2015 World Series Champions logo in gold while the back will have the MLB silhouetted batter logo in gold.

On April 3, the Royals will unveil the 2015 World Championship banner along with other special pregame ceremonies before the scheduled 7:37 p.m. first pitch, according to the news release. The club will wear the special jerseys and caps again when they are presented their championship rings in a special pregame ceremony on Tuesday, April 5. That game’s first pitch is scheduled for 3:15 p.m.

The official New Era caps and Majestic jerseys will be sold exclusively at the Majestic Team Store at Kauffman Stadium from March 24 through March 30 and online at MLB.com. The team store is open Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Both products will be available at other retailers later in the month, according to the news release.
