KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Fresh off winning the Super Bowl, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is looking to get involved in other sports.

Kelce doesn’t plan to hang up his football cleats, but he has signed on to be part of an ownership group that’s in the process of submitting a $1.7 billion bid to buy the New York Mets baseball team.

ESPN reported that Kelce is part of a group that includes former Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher and NFL running back DeMarco Murry, along with Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez.

Kelce told ESPN the ability to be part of the ownership group was “a crazy opportunity,” and that he was thankful to “have an opportunity like this to come across the table.”

No timeline was announced on when Mets current owner Jeff Wilpon would finalize a deal.
