KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Chiefs Offensive Coordinator Eric Bieniemy reportedly turned down the University of Colorado's offer to make him the head football coach of the school.

Bieniemy is a Colorado alumni and the school's all-time leading rusher, according to NBC Sports.

He also served as offensive coordinator at the school in 2011 and 2012 before coming to the Chiefs as a running backs coach in 2013.

Colorado went after their talented alum after head coach Mel Tucker left for Michigan State.

There were also several NFL teams interested in Bieniemy for a head coaching role during the Chiefs' post-season run. No offers were made to the OC who coached Patrick Mahomes and the team to a Super Bowl victory.

He is a likely candidate for an NFL head coaching job in 2021.

Bieniemy's decision to stay with the Chiefs another season was originally reported by NBC affiliate KUSA-TV in Denver.
