Saturday is the big playoff game between the Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots. The winner will move on to the AFC Title game, but why have just that on the line?
Just like with the Royals' playoff run, some are making friendly wagers. Check out the bets made so far:
MO and MA governors
Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon and Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker are wagering some delicious food on the game. Nixon is wagering some world-famous barbecue ribs from Kansas City’s own Gates BBQ in support of the Chiefs. Baker has wagered the famous Boston crème pie cupcakes from the Koffee Kup Bakery in Springfield, Mass., recently named the state’s official cupcake. The governors have agreed to donate the winnings to a local food pantry of their choice.
“There has been no hotter team in the NFL over the past 11 weeks than the Kansas City Chiefs - coincidentally, a streak that began right before Royals made it to the World Series,” Nixon said in a news release. “There are many reasons the Chiefs will beat the Patriots, especially a swarming pass defense that will put more than enough pressure on Tom Brady if he tries to air the ball out.”
“With the benefit of home field advantage and the luck of the Commonwealth’s official cupcakes, the Patriots are bound to continue their record of success,” Baker said in a news release. “I’m confident that we can expect a great game and some tasty Kansas City ribs from Governor Nixon when we win.”

IT'S ON: Lexi Sutter is in Boston at the Cheers bar, and they have made a little wager with Kelly's here in KC. The...
