Siler Schneider is a 6’3’’ guard on the University of California-Davis basketball team.
You’ve likely heard his name before. He graduated from Lansing High School in 2014, where he and his high school teammates won a state championship.
Now Schneider is preparing to go up against one of the best teams in the country, and ironically, the team he grew up rooting for: the Kansas Jayhawks.
“As my nephew said, he's a KU graduate, he said, ‘I can't lose tomorrow. If KU wins I’ll be happy, and if UC-Davis wins I'll be very happy,’” said Schneider’s dad, Rick.
Many family members, friends, former teammates, and even former coach Rod Briggs will be in attendance on Friday.
Briggs watched Schneider develop into a Division I athlete.
“It’s been rare for anyone to play Division I athletics out of Lansing, but he had a dream and has worked hard at it,” Briggs said. “And made it a great opportunity for himself."
