Kangaroos punch out Vaqueros 83-59 for 10th win on the season

Broderick Robinson just missed a double-double, scoring 18 points and grabbing nine rebounds as UMKC won its fourth straight game, thumping UT Rio Grande Valley, 83-59 in a Western Athletic Conference battle Thursday night.

   The victory moves the Kangaroos into a tie with the Vaqueros for fifth place with two games left in the regular season. UMKC plays conference leader New Mexico State Saturday in Las Cruces.

   The Roos held UTRGV to just 19 first-half points, taking a 23-point lead into intermission. They held the Vaqueros to 30.8 percent shooting for the game (16 of 52), including 4 of 14 from beyond the 3-point stripe.

   Brandon McKissic finished with 14 points for UMKC (10-19, 5-7), with Marco Smith adding 12, Xavier Bishop 11 and Jordan Giles 10.

   Nick Dixon scored 20 points to lead UTRGV (14-15, 5-7). Terry Winn added 11 points.
