Kansas City NWSL acquires Kristen Edmonds

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City National Women's Soccer League announced Saturday that it has acquired Kristen Edmonds in a trade with the Orlando Pride.

Edmonds is an eight-year veteran of the NWSL after starting her professional career in the United Soccer League's W-League with the New Jersey Wildcats and the Hudson Valley Quickstrike Lady Blues.

She started her NWSL career in 2014 with the Western New York Flash. After two seasons, Edmonds was traded to the Orlando Pride, where she has played since 2016.

Edmonds not only has experience in the NWSL, but the vet played internationally, helping lead Stjarnan to win the Icelandic Women’s Cup before she left for WFC Rossiyanka of Russia.

The 34 year old comes to KC in a trade, as the team acquired Edmonds and Orlando Pride's 2nd round draft pick in the 2022 NWSL Draft. In addition, Orlando will receive midfielder Gunnhildur Jónsdóttir and the rights to midfielder Erika Tymrak.

During her time in Orlando, Edmonds led the Pride in scoring her first two years with the team. Overall, Edmonds has made 106 appearances in the league with a total of 10 goals.
