KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas men's basketball team will not play its scheduled game against Tarleton State University due to a positive COVID-19 test, the team announced Friday.
"As a result of a positive COVID-19 case within the Tarleton State program, both schools mutually agreed it was in the best interest to cancel Sunday’s game," the team said via Twitter. "The game will not be rescheduled at this time."
The No. 5 ranked Jayhawks were slated to take on the Texan Riders on Sunday at Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kansas.
This is the second athletic event canceled this week for Kansas due to COVID-19 concerns.
On Thursday, the Kansas football team announced it was canceling its game against the University of Texas after a crew member of the Longhorns tested positive for the virus.
The men's basketball team will next play the Texas Tech Red Raiders in Lubbock, Texas, on Dec. 17.
