BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. - It was a good old fashioned Western shootout between teams on opposite sides of the football spectrum. Staley (4-0) held off a valiant charge by Blue Springs South (0-4) to win 41-37 and stay undefeated.

It was a game the Staley Falcons looked like they were going to dominate early. They moved the ball down the field quickly in the first quarter scoring on their first two offensive drives of the game. Senior quarterback John Rayburn found wide receiver JD Benbow on a 49-yard touchdown across the middle. Staley would move down the field once more and score on a 20-yard rushing touchdown by Rod Criss II. The Falcons had a 13-0 lead after a missed extra point.

However, Blue Springs South retaliated with 17 unanswered points.

The tide turned when Jaguars senior quarterback Brody Parker found DJ Frost on a 26-yard touchdown pass to get Blue Springs South on the board. The game would go back and forth in the second half with both teams scoring quickly on drives. Staley continues their trend of high scoring games and prior to their game against Blue Springs South, they averaged 52 points in three games.

Staley hosts Fort Osage (4-0) in a battle of undefeated teams next Friday. Fort Osage defeated Ruskin 45-25 on Friday, Sept. 8. Blue Springs South hosts Olathe North next Friday night.
