KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas State Wildcats football team appears on the right path in the new year despite losing Tuesday in the Liberty Bowl.
The No. 23-ranked Navy Midshipmen defeated the Wildcats 20-17 Tuesday in Memphis, Tennessee thanks to a field goal late in the fourth quarter.
With the loss, Wildcats first-year head coach Chris Klieman finished the year with an 8-5 record.
Kansas State got on the board in the second quarter thanks to a 66-yard punt return from Lee’s Summit-native and freshman Phillip Brooks.
The two teams remained tied until Navy's field goal with seconds left in the game.
