Four years ago, Missy Franklin, then 17, won over the world with a huge smile and four Olympic gold medals at the London games. It was Franklin’s first Olympics, but getting to her second has not been all smiles.
Four years later, Franklin graduated from high school and started college, injured her back and turned pro.
“You realize that, you know, it’s not just this wonderful journey where everything is rainbows and butterflies all the time,” Franklin said. “There’s these really, really hard patches that you have to go through.”
