Peoria, Arizona -- It's the end of an era as Eric Hosmer will be officially introduced as the newest member of the San Diego Padres. After speaking with Padres fans at their training facility, their reactions were mixed regarding the multimillion-dollar signing.
"I would prefer him not to be here." Said Don Conklin, a longtime Padres fan. "I'm really surprised. They get Will Meyers, he was their guy. I've been coming here to camp for twenty years and it was Tony Gwynn, Trevor and Meyers became the face of the team and Boom just like that Hosmer is here."
But others like Jeff Shaw think the move to sign Hosmer is worth every penny.
"You know it's money but he's a great leader I'm excited. Money is meant to be spent and you get a World Baseball Champion, you get a World Series Champion. I'm excited. We have a lot of youth so I think the money is well spent."
Fans also praised Hosmer for his leadership abilities and they hope he can bring some of that Kansas City World Series tradition to San Diego and spread it among this young clubhouse.
