KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Two national NASCAR touring series are rolling through Kansas Speedway this weekend, including the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Digital Ally 400 on Saturday under the lights.

Fans are more than ready to welcome their favorite drivers to town, including last year's Cup Series champion Joey Logano.

A two-time winner at Kansas Speedway, a 1.5-mile tri-oval in Kansas City, Kansas. Logano hopes to use another strong showing at Kansas Speedway as a springboard toward another title.

"Anytime you can win a championship, it brings a lot of momentum and confidence to your race team," Logano said. "It allows you to perform at a different level, and you've shown that you know how to do it right. It's nice to have that championship under our belt and try to defend it again."

Logano took the checkered flag during the season's third race, the Pennzoil 400 in March at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, so he'll be in the field to defend his title at the season's end. But he still feels like he has more to prove.

"There's always that next race ahead of you," Logano said. "It never stops. It's always what's next and you got to keep thinking that way to be successful."

Kansas Speedway seems to be one of Logano's favorite tracks.

He won the fall race at the track in 2014 and 2015. Another win could help him close the gap or even overtake Kyle Busch, who leads the Cup series standings by five points at the moment ahead of Logano.

"We want to take the points lead," Logano said. "Obviously, that's something we want. We want to win races and get those playoff points as well. The points are important, but the wins mean even more."
