KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Several sources reported early Tuesday afternoon that the Kansas City Chiefs have reached an $85 million deal with defensive tackle Chris Jones.

ESPN NFL writer Adam Schefter reported the team and Jones reached a four-year deal.

Moments earlier, NFL Network’s Ian Rapport had reported the team and Jones were close.

Earlier this year, the team had placed the franchise tag on Jones.

Jones led the team last year with nine sacks in 13 games.

The club has not yet confirmed the deal.

Jones is the second high-profile deal the team has made this month. Earlier, the team reached a 10-year extension with quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
