KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Resuming a season in the middle of a pandemic comes with its unique challenges. The Royals are trying to take things one step at a time while making sure safety remains the top priority.

“Together we have a spirit of cooperation among our organization," General Manager Dayton Moore said Sunday. "At every level, everything we can do something for one another and keep everyone healthy. It all starts with keeping yourself healthy.”

With four confirmed players testing positive for COVID-19, the Club is doing everything within its power to stop the spread and at the same time have a successful season.

“There's a strong commitment to play baseball," Moore said, "and there’s an even stronger commitment to make sure that we are aware of the health and safety of our players and their families and the fans."

The Royals said they still are learning the rhythm of all the new health and safety protocols, but the MLB has done an excellent job designing the guidelines. Moore said it's a day by day process, but Manager Mike Matheny has done a great job of setting the tone and constantly reminding players how their decisions affect the entire club and the outcome of their season.
