KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Patrick Mahomes craze is going green — for St. Patrick's Day.
Ultimate Athletic Sportswear made special Mahomes T-shirts for St. Patrick's Day in conjunction with Hy-Vee and with Mahomes' blessing.
Artists at the sportswear company put together the design — which read "St. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City's Finest MVP" — before Mahomes' team approved it.
"The MVP shirts sold," said John Doole, owner and president of Ultimate Athletic Sportswear. "Well now, the next progression is what else do people want? With St. Patrick's Day coming up it was just an easy thing to do."
Doole said they will print about 8,000 shirts to begin with and may print more, if needed.
"We are excited to take this on with the first MVP of the Kansas City Chiefs," Doole said.
Fans can buy the shirts starting Saturday at Hy-Vee stores around the Kansas City metro area.
