KANSAS CITY, Mo. — It wasn’t pretty, but the Chiefs did it again.

Looking lethargic and sloppy for a majority of Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers, the reigning Super Bowl champs seemingly flipped the switch late in the second half, rattling off 13 points to force overtime at the final horn.

“You have to be able to do that in this league,” head coach Andy Reid said.

Kansas City forced a three-and-out by the Chargers on the first drive of overtime, marching down the field to set up a 58-yard Harrison Butker field goal for the win.

“There’s going to be times like this where things aren't working. You can’t just beg, you have to play four quarters of aggressive football and that’s what our guys did,” Reid said.

It certainly was no masterpiece for Kansas City, committing 11 penalties on the day for 95 yards. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes was disappointed in his performance specifically, but said the team showed grit and determination despite the circumstances.

“Not every game is going to be a blowout,” Mahomes said. “We have to find a way to win no matter what adversity hits us and what situation we’re in.”

Kansas City is no stranger to come-from-behind wins, erasing three double-digit deficits en route to the Super Bowl LIV championship.

KC’s win over LA on Sunday marked the team's 11th straight, dating back to Nov. 18, 2019.
