Right now there's an urgent need for CASA volunteers in Johnson & Wyandotte Counties.
The need for volunteers will always be there, but now there is a dire need because more children are going into the foster program.
More than 100 children are on a list waiting for a CASA volunteer.
CASA volunteers serve as advocates for foster kids.
They also perform investigations that help judges decide on the best placement for children in the foster-care system.
“The number of kids keeps going up and because of this, the number of CASA volunteers keeps growing,” said Lois Rice, executive director of CASA of Johnson & Wyandotte Counties.
