A Kansas City High School is trying to break a world record and it's all for a good cause.

On Saturday, Dec. 2, students at St. Teresa's Academy are trying to raise 5,150 coats in just eight hours.

"I hope it's easier for people who don't have enough money to just go out and buy coats especially during the holiday season and get a free coat, said St. Teresa's senior Meg Roahr.

If they do, not only will they become world record holders, they'll also help people who can't afford a new coat stay warm this winter.

"It's a basic human necessity for people to be warm during the winter. It should not be something that's hard for people to get," said Regan Reda, also a senior at the school.

Catholic Charities will collect and disperse all of the coats to people in Kansas City who need them.
