Fill the Fridge: Everything you need to know

Once again, 41 Action News is partnering with Harvesters to hold our city-wide food drive for perishables. Fill the Fridge is back!

From Sept. 2-6, we'll collect food nearly-impossible to donate otherwise.

We'll be at five Price Chopper locations throughout the week, a different one each day.

A big change this year is that you'll be able to donate money to the cause at every Price Chopper in the metro! Simply scan the Fill the Fridge barcode at the register to donate to the cause.

Together we can help feed the hungry in Kansas City.

Here's where we'll be LIVE and when, so you can get it on your calendars:

Monday - Liberty Price Chopper, 9717 N. Ash
Tuesday - Shawnee Price Chopper, 12010 W. 63rd St.
Wednesday - Overland Park Price Chopper, 7201 W. 151st St.
Thursday - Blue Springs Price Chopper, 1100 S. 7 Highway
Friday - Kansas City Price Chopper, 1030 W. 103rd St.

The majority of those served by Harvesters and its network of pantries are families with children -- children who may consider it a treat to have milk, or cheese or yogurt.

There's a grocery list of items Harvesters hopes you'll donate.

Also, it's important to note: You have to buy your donations at the Price Chopper location where we are each day, because we must prove the food was never mishandled or allowed to reach an unsafe temperature.

Look for more details at and on 41 Action News.

Thanks to all who made this such a successful event last year, and to all of you who encouraged us to do it again.
