Prosecutors said Dale Lee Parsons, 36, burglarized the homes of people attending funerals.
The Excelsior Springs man pleaded guilty to eight felonies and five misdemeanors, including burglary, possession of stolen property and unlawful possession of a firearm.
He will serve the sentences for the felonies consecutively, which adds up to 45 years in prison.
"That's quite a hit," said Clay County Prosecuting Attorney Daniel White.
White called the burglaries "an act of abject of cynicism."
Prosecutors played tapes during the trial that showed Parsons trying to recover some of the stolen material. White said that was likely a contributing factor in the lengthy sentence.
