Man charged in assaults of two Kansas City police officers

A 54-year-old Kansas City man has been charged in connection with the assaults of two Kansas City police officers, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced Monday.

John Ross faces two counts of second-degree assault of a law enforcement officer and third-degree assault.

According to court records, the officers were responding to a woman being struck while she was walking in the area of 11th and Prospect Avenue. Ross hit and head-butted the woman. 

According to a news release from the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office, when officers responded Ross hit each officer and bit one on the hand. One officer suffered a concussion.

Prosecutors have requested a bond of $35,000.
