KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The murder total for 2017 in Kansas City, Mo., continues to rise with the Friday murder of a man in east Kansas City.
Officers were sent to check on a shooting about 3:40 p.m. at East 54 Street and Park Avenue.
They found a man in his mid-40s dead in the street. The victim has been identified as Marvell T. Smith, 36, of Kansas City, Missouri.
No suspect information was released.
This was the 106th homicide of the year in KCMO, compared with 81 at this time a year ago.
