One person is dead and three others are injured after a shooting in Kansas City, Mo. Saturday.

Officials say that all the people involved were either friends or family members.

"It appears that these individuals all knew each other and we are still trying to put pieces of this puzzle together to ascertain as to why this happened," said Kansas City Police Sgt. Kari Thompson.

As of Saturday evening two people remained in the hospital. The shooting occurred around 4 p.m. E. 100th Street near Richmond Avenue.

Police say that neighbors were shocked by the news.

"They are shaken right now. They know this family and it's awful. It's awful. Another example of conflict resolution skills that unfortunately were absent."
