Police arrest person of interest in deadly stabbing in West Bottoms

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - On Thursday, Kansas City police confirmed they have a person of interest in a double stabbing in custody. Panom Gai, 48, was charged Friday, Nov. 10, with second-degree murder in the stabbing; one woman was killed and a man suffered critical injuries.

The stabbing happened at about 5:50 p.m. Wednesday in Kansas City's West Bottoms.

The violence happened near a gas station at 12th Street and Wyoming. Police said they found a woman dead at the scene. A man was taken to an area hospital in critical condition. 

The woman was identified as Cynthia Thomas, 47. 

Police said the suspect may have used a cane with a knife on the end of it.

The suspect reportedly fled the area on foot. 

This is the 125th homicide of the year in Kansas City, Missouri.
