A man suspected of shooting a woman in Gladstone is dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to police.
Gladstone police say there called to a home near 60th and Charlotte Street on a report of a shooting at about 5 p.m. Tuesday. A woman was reportedly shot inside the house but managed to run across the street to a neighbor's house. She is expected to recover.
Officials say the suspect had locked himself inside the home and refused to come out for hours.
Eventually, police sent a robot equipped with a camera into the house and discovered the suspect was laying on the floor and not moving. When officers went inside they reportedly found him dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
