Several people were arrested this week after Kansas City police and Clay County Sheriff’s deputies teamed up to crack down on crime related to methamphetamine and heroin use.

In total, 19 people were arrested after officers checked multiple homes from Aug. 24-25 in Kansas City’s Northland. Police said the homes were identified as drug houses or were related to other criminal activities.

Along with the arrests, various narcotics and illegal firearms were recovered, including marijuana, methamphetamine, heroin, rifles and firearm silencer devices.

The 19 arrests cleared 71 city, state and federal warrants and brought 18 new charges. Officials said even more charges are likely as detectives continue to work on the cases.

During the initiative, police also worked on contacting neighbors to advise them why officers were in the area and how they could help to make their neighborhoods safer. Officials said the collaborated efforts are ongoing.
