Two people were transported to the hospital after a vehicle fleeing police slammed into another vehicle near I-29 and NW 64th St.

The Platte County Sheriff's Office says a deputy tried to stop a vehicle near Tiffany Springs around 8 p.m. Saturday on traffic related charges. The blue Ford Taurus refused to stop and the deputy pursued the vehicle southbound on I-29. The deputy later terminated the pursuit due to safety concerns.

The suspect vehicle continued south on I-29 and exited onto NW 64th St., where it struck another vehicle at the intersection near Prairie View Rd.

Witnessed told police they saw two or three people run from the crashed Taurus. Officers and a police helicopter have been searching the area, but no other suspects have been found.

The driver of the Taurus, a 36-year-old black male, was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The passenger of the other vehicle, a 22-year-old white male, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The crash is being investigated by the Kansas City Police Department.
