It’s been seven years since Belton, Mo., teen Kara Kopetsky was last seen by her family.

She would have turned 24 years old on Sunday, but instead of a birthday celebration, the family held a walk to remember her and other missing persons.

On May 4, 2007, Kopetsky, who was only 17 years old, went to school, and never came home. Surveillance video shows her there that day, but there are no signs of what may have happened to her after.

Her mother, Rhonda Beckford, still agonizes over what happened to her Kara on that what, and where she might be now. “As a mother, one day of not knowing where your child is, is a nightmare. So seven is just inconceivable.” Beckford said. ‘People don’t disappear into thin air.”

The Kopetsky family has no leads in the case. If you have any information, you are asked to call police.
