KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The AdHoc Group Against Crime teamed up with Hot 103 Jamz to help generate tips to unsolved homicides in Kansas City.

The conference room inside of the AdHoc office located at 2701 East 31st St. was full of radio equipment and DJ's with Hot 103 Jamz for a call to action.

The DJ's were on air from 6am until 6pm to encourage listeners to share tips about unsolved homicides.

Nyrita Coleman's brother was killed in September 2016 near 35th and Montgall. She shared her story with listeners.

"It is everyone's problem because this is our neighborhood. These are the streets that we walk on, we drive. This is where we have to protect our children," Coleman said.

Damon Daniel is the president of the AdHoc Group Against Crime. He said this is the second time they've done this event.

He said their calls for action and social media make a difference.

"Socia media plays a big part in what we do, as well as the police department, too. They too are able to solve a lot of crimes," Daniel said.

Daniel says they received 38 tips and 68 people visited the office to either share their story or volunteer to support.
