The Cass County Sheriff's Office is investigating a death after a woman was discovered in a ditch next to Interstate 49 Highway near Harrisonville.
The Cass County Sheriff's Office identified the victim as Megan Wheeler, 32, of Harrisonville.
Investigators believe Wheeler was walking home when she was struck by a vehicle. They are looking for a 1994-2002 Dodge truck with damage to the front passenger area. Models can range from 1500, 2500 and 3500.
Kevin Tieman of the sheriff's office said a group of bicyclists discovered the woman between the southbound lanes of Interstate 49 and Peculiar Drive around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday.
The Metro Squad is asking for anyone that may have been in the area of Peculiar Drive north of Harrisonville between midnight Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday to contact them if they saw anything.
