Reconstruction is underway. Once completed, downtown Liberty will have received a facelift above ground as well as some much-needed updates to infrastructure below ground.
The Downtown Liberty Streetscape project will include reconstruction of the streets, sidewalks and utilities around the Liberty Square area. Sidewalks will be widened to a more pedestrian-friendly 14 feet. New landscaping and crosswalks will highlight intersections and even parking will be upgraded.
"The downtown area has been the heart and soul of our community. It is a key part of what makes Liberty Liberty," said Liberty Mayor Lyndell Brenton.
Construction will be completed in phases through the end of the year. Neighbors can follow the construction progress here.
