The items have since been released, but a Good Samaritan who stopped to help victims of a crash Sunday morning had her trailblazer stolen.

Police recovered the SUV with the woman’s purse inside but were unable to release it back to her for about 24 hours due to their investigation.

The woman does not want to be named or shown as police do not have the suspect who stole her vehicle in custody.

Sunday morning she heard a loud crash and drove over to see what was going on. When she arrived the driver of the crashed vehicle stole hers.

“It’s been kind of rough,” she said. “It’s access to my entire life right there inside that one small bag.”

Along with her ID, money and other personal items, her purse also contained her medication. "I actually have a sleeping disorder and I have diabetes as well. So daily medicine that I have to have."

The trailblazer has been sitting in a tow lot in Kansas City, Kansas. She was unable to access it until about 4 p.m. Monday.

When she went to pick it up, she learned her keys to her house were not in her purse. She says she’ll be having her locks changed on her home.

She also found out she cannot take the vehicle until she gets it insured. She’s been given until July 14th to get insurance otherwise the tow lot will charge her for holding the SUV.

Although the inconvenience is ongoing, she doesn’t regret the decision to stop and help.

“I don’t look at myself as the Good Samaritan, I just look at myself as the person I was raised to be.”
