New business is in the works in Westport.

According to the Kansas City Business Journal, the $50 million project would create a 14 story high rise with businesses, restaurants, office spaces, and more than 500 apartments.

The developers have pulled their initial to get more community feedback. Action Pact Development released the following statement:

“Action Pact Development submitted plans on behalf of Pulse Development for Manor Tower in Westport, knowing this would allow us to participate in neighborhood meetings to have important discussions about the project. The input provided at neighborhood meetings is a critical part of the process for all of our projects. Based on these early Westport neighborhood meetings and the valuable feedback received, we have pulled the plans from the City to make revisions to the project. The goal is to deliver a mixed-use environment that is both inviting and accepted by the community and we are making revisions to ensure that outcome. We look forward to working with the neighborhood to bring this vision to life.”

There is no word yet on when new plans would be resubmitted.

“I mean I think it’s a great idea honestly you get a lot more people living here you know to enjoy all the stuff that’s around here in Westport," said David Waldschmit, who lives near Westport.

Others worried near development could take away from the area.

“There is certainly maybe a historic element to the area that I think a lot of high rises, developments might take away," said Lee's Summit resident David Holt.

“If I was apartment hunting it would be appealing for me to live somewhere closer to Westport," said Josie England.

"Anything for our city, I think it’s great I think grow grow grow," said Aubrey Svoboda.
