An Excelsior Springs woman is mourning the loss of her dog and hoping someone will call police with a tip that will lead to her dog's killer.

Lora Kingery is overwhelmed by the attention but remains committed to justice for Snowball. Someone viciously attacked her dog, Snowball, last month when he was leashed in the front yard.

"He was bleeding from his mouth real bad, it was all over him." said Kingery.

The 17-year old husky mix died three days later. Fellow dog lovers are in disbelief.

"He was just like the town dog. He was a beautiful dog. Just kind of everybody adopted him." said Anna Spears, who used to walk her dogs by Snowball every day.

Kingery said whoever attacked her dog had to be sick, but that doesn't ease the pain.

Her husband, who had a special relationship with Snowball, died a year ago.

"Bob and Snowball were so connected. And then Snowball was my connection, I really miss him. And now I feel really alone," said Kingery.

The Humane Society of the United States is getting involved in finding the person responsible.

They are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the crime.

The Excelsior Springs police are continuing their investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact them at 816-630-2000.
