The family of a Raytown man who was murdered nearly four years ago is one step closer to getting justice as hundreds of other families across the metro wait for their loved ones' killers to be found.

Harry Stone, 60, was shot and killed on a jog on May 13, 2012.

On Tuesday, police and prosecutors announced they've made an arrest and charged a suspect in the case.

Bobbie Stone, Harry Stone's widow, sent a message of hope to those who are dealing with similar tragedies.

"This gives other people who are waiting for justice for their loved ones hope," Bobbie Stone said. "As I received hope from other long-term crimes that I heard on the news had been solved. I had hope from that."

One of them is that of Adrian Reed. The Burns and McDonnell employee was shot and killed while sitting at a stop light at Bannister and James A. Reed road in 2014.

Across the state line in 2015, 10-year-old Machole Stewart was shot at her home in Kansas City, Kansas, when a gunman outside the house opened fire.

In KCMO alone, 91 murder cases since 2012 have yet to be solved.

With Tuesday's announcement about Stone's case, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker said she hopes to solve more of these cases that remain a mystery.

"I'd love to reach back in the past and solve an old case," she said.

Anyone with information that could help solve one of these crimes can put in an anonymous tip to Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers by calling 816-474-8477.
