KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Longtime Kansas City political consultant Steve Glorioso has passed away.

The 70-year-old oversaw many campaigns in the Kansas City area. The most recent was this past April. He helped run the campaign to approve the city’s $800 million GO bond package.

Glorioso also worked on the election of Kansas City’s first female mayor, Kay Barnes and worked on the campaign for the Sprint Center downtown Kansas City.

“Steve spent his career working on behalf of a better Kansas City. For that, we should be grateful and appreciative of his work and commitment to our community," Kansas City Mayor Sly James said in a statement sent to 41 Action News. "Personally, my thoughts are with Regina and Steve's family."

“Steve was whip smart, incredibly loyal, and could always see around corners when it came to any public policy issue," Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill said. “He loved politics because he cared deeply about his community and his country. He has been a go-to source for guidance and historical context for many elected officials for decades. I will miss my dear friend terribly."

“I respected his political intellect and his true love of a good campaign. I will dearly miss him. Prayers to his family," Jackson County prosecutor Jean Peters Baker tweeted.
