The Kansas City, Kansas School District is asking for the public's help to name newest middle school.

The online survey allows people to weigh in on the school name, colors and mascot.

The new facility is located behind the current Coronado Middle School, at 1735 N. 64th Terrace.

It will accommodate students from both Coronado and West Middle Schools. The new building will be about 127,000 square feet and will house about 750 students.

The two-story facility will have 30 classrooms, including a science room and prep areas.

Kelli Mather is the chief operating officer for the Kansas City Kansas School District.

She says they want to get community input for the new school so they are engaged in the entire process.

"Voters approved the bond and we want to make sure they are apart of the process. They voted to support the schools and we want them engaged in the process," said Mather.

Back in November, voters approved a zero tax increase bond that provided $235 million for new schools.

The district plans to build two new middle schools and two new elementary schools.
