Roses are red. Violets are blue. You could buy a home for less than a grand to make it look brand-spanking new.

On Valentine's Day, The Land Bank of Kansas City, Missouri will hold an open house for #HeartofKC sale.

The #HeartofKC sale kicks off with an open house on Valentine's Day from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at 5111 and 5732 Wabash Avenue.

The bank is selling homes for $999.

There are 50 homes on the list and they need a little love.

"These homes are structurally sound," Ted Anderson, Land Bank executive director, said. "Rehabbers can expect to spend anywhere from $20,000 to $30,000, but in return, are going to have a fabulous home for their investment."

New owners will have 120 days to address code issues and one year to complete the rehab process.

Many of the homes are located in Blue Hills, Townfork Creek, Ivanhoe Southeast and Oak Park Southeast.

If you are interested in buying a home, complete an offer form.

Last year the Land Bank offered homes for a buck! About 35 homes were sold and rehabbed in the last year through the Land Bank's Dollar Home promotion.
