Driver ejected, killed after vehicle catches fire on 169 highway

UPDATE: Feb. 10, 7 a.m.: Police have identified the deceased driver of the GMC as 22-year-old Kenisha Turner of Kansas City, Missouri.

UPDATE: FEB 8, 9 a.m.: Police said a dark green GMC Yukon was traveling south on 169 Highway at a high rate of speed.

The driver lost control, struck the guardrail on the west side of the highway. The GMC then traveled across the lanes of traffic and went airborne over the side of the concrete jersey barrier on the east side of the highway.

The vehicle went down approximately 80 feet, where it struck a tree and burst into flames.

The driver, and sole occupant of the vehicle was ejected, and pronounced dead at the scene.

UPDATE: Feb 8, 6:15 a.m.: 169 highway NB has been re-opened. No other details have been released.

169 Highway Northbound is closed past Richards Road. Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that left one person dead.

It happened just before 2 a.m. Saturday.

One person was killed.
